KU’s Tyshawn Taylor, Elijah Johnson suspended for two exhibition games

On Sunday night, KU coach Bill Self announced that senior guard Tyshawn Taylor and junior guard Elijah Johnson have been suspended for the Jayhawks’ two exhibition games — Tuesday against Pittsburg State and Nov. 8 against Fort Hays State — because they violated team rules in the offseason.
This after Self announced Thursday that junior forward Thomas Robinson, an All-America candidate, hyperextended his right knee at practice. Self said in a statement Sunday that Robinson is questionable for Pittsburg State.
If Robinson is unable to play Tuesday, KU will be down to five players that were recruited as scholarship athletes: juniors Travis Releford and Jeff Withey, junior transfer Kevin Young and true freshmen Naadir Tharpe and Merv Lindsay. The Jayhawks will have to depend on former walk-ons Conner Teahan and Justin Wesley.
“Tyshawn and Elijah have both been terrific since school began in August,” Self said. “They’ve not only performed well, they have been very responsible and disciplined the first few months of the school year. But during the offseason they violated a rule that I told them,wholesale nfl jerseys because of some past experiences, their punishment was going to be severe and I was going to hold them out of the two exhibition games. They have been aware of this for several months and also are disappointed, but have had very positive attitudes about it.
“I will not comment about this further. Losing two players and Thomas being questionable for Tuesday’s game probably changes the look of our team as much as anyone in the country. This gives a chance for our young guys to play under the lights and see how they react.”
Both Taylor and Johnson served suspeCheap NFL Jerseysnsions last year and missed games. Taylor was suspended for the Oklahoma State and Oklahoma games because of a violation of team rules, and Johnson missed the first two regular-season games because of a violation of team rules.
